During my time in Nicaragua, I spent time with the Lord in a way I hadn’t ever before. Being able to connect with nature and the beauty that the Lord surrounds Nicaragua with, and disconnecting from the world that bombards me through my phone, I was able to understand how it actually felt to rest with the Lord. In between our time with the community, I would sit in the hammock on the property and there was one particular moment where I felt true peace, all of my concerns of the world were blocked out and all of my thoughts were on the Lord because he was all around me. I took from this trip a new understanding of how to be at rest with the Lord and sit in peace. -

My mission trip to Nicaragua was a life changing experience where I encountered the Lord in new and powerful ways. Walking in His presence daily, I gained a deeper understanding of how truly blessed I am, not just in material ways, but in the grace and opportunities God has given me. What amazed me most was seeing how great our God is, that His hand is not just over my life, but over a place so far from home, over the people of Nicaragua. Witnessing this reminded me that His love does not have borders, and I walked away with a renewed heart, overflowing with gratitude for both the big and small things in life. This trip strengthened my faith and showed me that true joy is found in Him alone -

Visiting Michael and Paula in Nicaragua helped show me how God breaks down the boundaries of cultures and languages to call people into the Kingdom. As someone who had never been out of the United States before and not confident in my understanding or speaking of Spanish the ability to still establish relationships with individuals in the communities and share the love of Jesus through testimonies, community service, and finding common interests (such as soccer and fishing) to bridge the gap. Walking away from this trip I feel the challenge but am encouraged to continue living life to make Jesus known whether that be in classes, the grocery store, work, or in my own home. I have realized that even in the small mundane points of life I can make them about glorifying Jesus and being a light to those around me while doing it regardless of the context, people’s backgrounds, or how I am feeling that day. Nicaragua is a beautiful country with so much beauty, so beautiful that coming back home was difficult, but it is an amazing glimpse of how wonderful God’s creation is, both the people and the nature. While only a week, the time I experienced with Michael and Paula was transformational, chaining my view of my own life, growing in love for those around me, and growing in love for the Lord all at the same time. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. -
